Reservation for general category a welcome step: Sham Sharma | | | Early Times Report
akhnoor, Jan 10: Appreciating his party leadership for extending support to the bill granting 10% reservation for poor in general category, senior Congress leader and former minister Sham Lal Sharma said that the party supported the bill keeping in view the interest of the common masses. He was speaking in a public meeting held at Panchayat Gharatal. While speaking he said Congress party's support to pass the bill reflects that some issues are above party politics. He further said that whenever BJP was in opposition, they did politics even on the issues relating to common people. Sham said the people are happy with Congress party for extending support to this bill. He further said that in the past also, the Congress Government brought this type of bill but was not implemented because of SC ruling. He said it is question that how much the affected people will be benefited with this bill. In the absence of job avenues, this bill will not be of much help to the common poor man. He urged the government to open job avenues so that the poor people are able to take benefit of this reservation quota. He further said that it will be futile to derive benefit of 10% reservation unless and until job opportunities are opened. Sharma said that Modi Government had miserably failed to provide employment to unemployed youths across the country. "We have lakhs and lakhs of graduates and post-graduates who are sitting at their homes without jobs," he said. Sharma said that he is happy with the government's decision and that it should not be politicized. |
