Inter-state narco smuggler held with 40 Kg poppy straw

Kathua, Jan 20: Police in its ongoing drive against narcotics today claimed to have arrested an inter-state drug peddler and recovered 40 kg poppy straw from his possession. Police spokesman said that a police team of Police Station Kathua raised a naka at Palli Morh and recovered 40 Kilograms of poppy straw concealed in a truck and arrested an inter-state narco smuggler. Spokesman further said team of Police Station Kathua under the directions of Inspector Arvind Sambyal-SHO Kathua during checking duty at NHW Palli Morh intercepted one truck bearing registration number PB13AL-1764 coming from Kashmir towards Punjab and recovered 40 kilograms poppy straw.
Police seized the narcotics, arrested the driver namely Mohd Imran of Maler Kotla Punjab and registered a case under FIR no 23/19 under section 8/15 NDPS Act in this regard while further investigation to ascertain the source of the consignment is on.
