Lawrence Public School celebrates Education day | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 24: The 1st International Day of Education 2019 was celebrated at Lawrence Public School in collaboration with Gandhi Global Family. According to press release, the day was celebrated to recognise the importance of working to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education at all levels. The program was presided over by Padamshree Dr. S.P. Verma National Vice President Gandhi Global Family, the special guest on this occasion was Ram Mohan Rai, National General Secretary Gandhi Global Family. The program started with the lighting of the traditional lamp by the Padamshree Dr. S.P. Varma, Ram Mohan Rai, Abdul Majeed Bichoo, Manish Joshi and Shivani Joshi. A symposium was held by the students in which the students reiterated that there are 262 million children & youth not attending schools, 617 million children & adolescent who can't read or do basic maths. In another event a painting competition was also held with the theme, 'Gandhi Meri Nazar Mein' as part of the 150th Birth Anniversary, year long celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi. The 1st prize was bagged by Owais Yaseen, 2nd prize by Ashmita Singh Jamwal & 3rd prize by Arbish Khan. Dr. S.P Varma said that without inclusive, equitable quality education and lifelong opportunities for all, countries will not succeed in achieving gender equality & breaking the cycle of poverty that is leaving millions of children, youth & adults behind. The vote of thanks was presented by Shivani Joshi, Headmistress Lawrence Public School. |
