J&K Grameen Bank organizes Financial Literacy Program | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 24: Financial Inclusion and Insurance Department, J&K Grameen Bank under the chairmanship of Janak Raj Angural and in collaboration with NABARD conducted Financial Literacy programme at unbanked villages namely Baspur and Dherian in district Jammu and at villages Chatyal, Sahafr and Rasoo in district Kathua. Kashmir Singh Choudhary, AEO (Agriculture Extension Officer), R.S. Pura who was chief guest on the occasion, highlighted the various schemes like KCC card, Rupay Kisan Card, Crop Insurance, Insurance (Life & Non-Life) which are provided by Grameen bank and, thereby, contributing towards development of agricultural activities in the state. Jasbir Singh, BH Baspur while interacting spoke on trending topic of creating a cashless economy and the accompanying benefits. He created awareness among people about new technologies available in the bank such as use of POS machine, Rupay debit card, KCC Rupay debit card, Net banking, Mobile banking services, IMPS, Aadhaar based transactions and so on. He told them about the merits and demerits of using such services and precautions to be taken care of while utilizing such facilities so as not to fall prey to some fraudulent person's active in the market. He also gave a brief review of various loan schemes of the bank and its competitiveness with others. He said that the Bank is targeting for opening 1 lakh new PMJDY accounts before the end of March 2019. Kuldeep Bhat, BH Badyal Brahmana; Jatinder Pal Singh, BH Palli More; Mohan Lal, BH Barwal; Omkar Singh, BH Hatli at their respective programmes spread awareness about various lending schemes offered by the bank for general public such as Housing loan, Transport loan, Car loan, Education loan etc. where rate of interest charged by the bank is very competitive and which are available on easy EMIs. On spot Rupay debit cards were also distributed to the customers. They also informed the masses about the benefits of social security schemes namely Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY). He told the gathering about the latest developments in PMJDY like the overdraft amount raised to Rupees Ten thousand and the age limit to open a PMJDY account is also increased to 65 years and there will be no condition for Overdraft up to Rupees Two thousand plus the accidental insurance cover for new Rupay card holders has been raised from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 2 lakh for the new PMJDY accounts opened after 28.08.2018. Besides the gathering, the other dignitaries of the area including former Sarpanchs and Panchs of the villages were also present during the event. |
