Recovery of huge demand of Rs 3.70 cr by State Taxes Department | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Jan 24: The State Taxes Department carried out various inspections under relevant provisions of GST Act, 2017. During the inspections, it came to fore that certain dealers have devised a unique mechanism of hiding their inward and outward transactions by allotting codes to these transactions for the purpose of evading the taxes. This dishonest practice has been detected and decoded by the department and action as warranted under GST law against the erring dealer has been initiated. The department has recovered a demand of Rs 3.70 crores including cess of Rs1.65 crore during the current month from the erring dealers while carrying out the through examinations and scrutiny of books of accounts seized during the inspection, disclosures made by these dealers about their sales and purchases and through their GST returns. State Taxes Department advises the dealers to avoid using dishonest practices for evasion of tax and are requested to adhere to the provisions of the GST Act, 2017 and the rules framed there under, strictly in letter and spirit. The inspections were conducted under the supervision of Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, Additional Commissioner State Taxes (Administration & Enforcement ) Kashmir under the directions of PK Bhat, Commissioner State Taxes, J&K Government. |
