JAMMU, Jan 28: The School of Mechanical Engineering at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra in collaboration with DST-SERB & TEQIP-III, organized the National Workshop on Advances in Clean Energy Conversion Technologies and Materials for Energy Storage Applications. Dr. R.K. Mishra, Head School of Mechanical Engineering welcomed the participants and delivered informative lecture. While Prof. Eswaramoorthy Muthusamy spoke about the objectives of the workshop and of various sessions which are to be conducted. Prof. V. Verma, Dean, Faculty of Sciences presided over the function and during his address Prof. Verma emphasizing the need of clean energy, carbon foot print, clean development mechanism and importance of hydrogen fuel, and its applications, where biomass based hydrogen generation was highlighted. Prof. Pranesh Padya, Dean (Admin), IIT-Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Overall 9 sessions would be conducted on different aspects of energy conversion cycles, materials for energy storage application by the experts from IITs, NITs, and in-house faculty members. In the workshop more than hundred participants including in-house and around J&K and outside were attended. Prof. Muthusamy hailed Dr. Sanjeev Jain, Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU, for providing conducive atmosphere for research and training in the university. The inaugural ceremony concluded with a formal vote of thanks. |
