Kundal demands reservation in promotions for SC, ST employees | | | Early Times Report
Samba, Feb 9: Hailing the passage of the bill in the Parliament regarding the amendment in constitutional provision to provide 10 per cent reservation in government jobs and education to economically backward section in the general category recently, Yashpal Kundal State President Young Panthers demanded the reservation in promotions for the SC/ST employees working in the J&K government. He was addressing a press conference in Samba today. While addressing the media, Kundal said the special provisions made in the bill would benefit the people in the admissions to educational institutions and also while applying for the government services. On the contrary, while flaying the erstwhile State government for its callous attitude towards the SC/ST employees of J&K, he regretted that the government earlier used to provide the reservations in promotions to SC/ST employees but soon after the erstwhile dirty alliance of BJP-PDP took over the reins of power, these reservations were upheld for no reason thus divesting the said category of employees of their genuine rights. "It was quite unfortunate that 7 BJP MLAs from Jammu region who were sent to the Assembly on reserved seats under SC/ST category, miserably failed to rake up the issue in support of such employees. People should now gird up their loins to teach the Saffron Party a befitting lesson for its persistent betrayals, surrenders and deceit during the tenure", anguished Kundal said. |
