Government orders prosecution of 5 persons for anti-India protests in 2016 | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Feb 9: The government has ordered prosecution of five persons under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for anti-India protest in 2016. The prosecution was ordered by the government's home department based on report in police Station Khanyar. The report said that at Sumkachabal Chowk Khanyar five persons namely Naseer Ahmad Malik son of Ghulam Ahmad Malik of Mashalli Mohalla-Islamia College, Srinagar, Riyaz Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat of Mashalli Mohalla-Kawdara, Adil Farooq son of Farooq Ahmad of Nalabal-Nowshera, Srinagar, Jehangir Hafiz son of Ghulam Qadir alias Jana Auto of Doulatabad-Khanyar, Srinagar and Suhail Nazir Bhat son of Nazir Ahmad Bhat of Rangpora-Zakoora Srinagar came out from lanes and by-lanes carrying stones and bricks and waved Pakistani flags and raised anti-national slogans. The protests turned violent and the protesters were advised to disperse, but they did not took any note and pelted heavily upon deployed police and CRPF troops with intention to cause injuries and to restrain them to perform their lawful duties. Naseer, Riyaz and Adil were apprehended on spot carrying Pakistani flags and the unruly mob was dispersed by using mild lathi charge, the police said. The two other persons were arrested later. |
