Police's selective action responsible for trouble in Jammu | No action against those who raised Pakistan zindabad slogans last week | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 17: The otherwise peaceful Jammu city, which earned credential of accommodating people from all walks of life during crucial time, is burning for the last three-days thanks to the appeasement policy of the district administration including local police. Had the police take action against those stranded passengers who had shouted Pakistan Zindabad slogan last week, situation would have never taken such ugly turn. Students of GGM Science College and locals had raised strong anger against shouting of Pakistan Zindabad slogans but police committed atrocities of them instead of taking action against pro-Pakistani elements. It was that simmer discontent among nationalist people of Jammu city which resulted into spilling of anger on the streets of the city and the outskirts. Majority of the people of Jammu city are of the opinion that it was all due to pressure from PDP, NC and separatist leadership of the Kashmir Valley that Jammu Police gave free hand to some miscreants from Kashmir Valley to raise Pakistan Zindabad slogans in the city of temples to terrorize locals. After Jammu bandh call, police has picked some local youth who are allegedly involved in violence in the city but people are asking "What action has been taken against those who were responsible for shouting Pakistan Zindabad near GGM Science College?". Majority opinion is Jammu is that police here is working only to shield those who have shouting Pakistan Zindabad to appease political mentors of Kashmir Valley. On Saturday after government employees, putting up at government quarters Janipur, resorted to shouting pro-Pakistan slogans which resulted into stone pelting from both sides. But instead of taking balanced action, police have picked only those who had opposed shouting of these slogans. |
