To 'sustain their families and serve the nation,' several Kashmiri youth participate in Army Recruitment drive 2/19/2019 11:11:57 PM Early Times Report Baramulla, Feb 19:Several Kashmiri youth took part in an army recruitment drive for 111 vacancies in Baramulla. Bilal Ahmad, an army aspirant said, “We will get the chance to sustain our families and serve our nation, what else can one want?” This recruitment drive comes in the wake of the Pulwama terror attack on February 14. In a similar army recruitment which took place last year in September, 42 youth were allegedly recruited at the army Recruitment office (ARO) in Ludhiana through fraudulent means. Similarly in 2017, over 19000 Kashmiri youth had applied for the Army recruitment rally in Baramulla district and 3000 appeared for the recruitment. The recruitmemt drive came days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the Kashmiri youth to shun the path of terrorism Meanwhile, the Pulwama attack on February 14 this year had claimed the lives of 40 CRPF personnel after a Jaish-e-Mohammed suicide bomber rammed a vehicle carrying over 100 kg of explosives into their bus in Pulwama district. More than 2,500 Central Reserve Police Force personnel, many of them returning from leave to rejoin duty in the Valley, were travelling in the convoy of 78 vehicles when they were ambushed on the Srinagar-Jammu highway at Latoomode in Awantipora in south Kashmir. Almost all the world leaders came together to express their solidarity and condemned this gruesome act of terror and also vowed to act strongly against terrorism. Baffled by the mounting pressure from several countries to act against terrorism, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan said that he will take the necessary steps to initate a probe if India provides evidence of Islamabad’s involvement. Addressing the media over the Pulwama terror attac, Khan said, “My statement is for the Indian government.
