JAMMU, Feb 23: Expressing its resentment over union government's persistent denial of granting martyrs' status to the paramilitary jawans, who laid down their lives for the nation, the Ex-Central Paramilitary Forces Welfare Association (ECPFWA) demanded that the centre should consider the plea to honour the sacrifice of the martyred soldiers. Addressing a press conference here today, the general secretary of ECPFWA consisting of (BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, CISF and NSG) DK Chauhan said that the general public of the country is demanding for according martyrs' status to all BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, CISF and NSG jawans, who have laid down their lives while fighting with the anti-national elements. Chauhan said but the Government of India has notyet given the status of the "martyrs" to the paramilitary jawans even after convening an emergency meeting of the CCS on February 15 adding that no decision was taken in the meeting to give the status of "Shaheed" to the martyred jawans by the government. On the occasion, all the members observed two minutes silence as a mark of respect to the martyred CRPF jawans, who were killed at Pulwama on February 14 and 2 Majors and 3 jawans of Army at two different locations in J&K during the anti-insurgency operations. |
