Warm send off for GST, Customs Officer | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 1: The officers and staff of the GST and Customs department in Jammu accorded a warm and affectionate farewell to Bachan Lal, Inspector who retired after rendering 39 years of impeccable service to the Department. An impressive function was held at the Office of the Commissioner, Central GST, Jammu to celebrate the contributions of Bachan Lal to the department and the nation and accord him a warm send-off. Gyan Sarvar, Commissioner, Central GST Jammu and Sunil Singh Katiyar, Commissioner, Central GST Jalandhar felicitated Bachan Lal and wished a fruitful and healthy retired life. During his illustrious career, Bachan Lal was an arch nemesis of smugglers and tax evaders. He has been directly instrumental in 34 anti-smuggling cases that led to seizure of more than 50 kgs of heroin, 2 kgs of Hashish, 2 kgs of opium among other seizures valued at approximately Rsc75.85 crores. For his tremendous contribution to the nation, Bachan Lal was awarded the Presidential Award for Meritorious Service in the year 2010. |
