World Health Day celebrated, awareness cum health check up held

JAMMU, Apr 7 : Heal the World, a Trust dedicated to the health of mankind, celebrated World Health Day by organizing an awareness-cum health check-up camp at Alexandra Memorial High School, Eidgah Road, Jammu.
On the occasion, social activist Tarun Uppal was the Chief Guest while Karunesh Gupta, senior BJP leader was the Guest of Honour.
Dr N.D Qazi, President Heal The World, presented welcome address and threw light on the working of Trust.
Social activist Tarun Uppal, in his address, said that the day witnesses various events held worldwide to spread the message of good health and promote best health care practices.
"World Health Day celebrations focus on increasing the life expectancy of people.
The day is aimed at promoting healthier living habits through efforts from doctors, NGOs and students various media," he said.
"World Health Day provided an opportunity to individuals of all communities to get involved in activities that can lead to better health," he said, adding that the basic aim was to make students aware of health and health problems and how to be socially, mentally emotionally and physically healthy.
Uppal stresses upon regular health checkups. "Make appropriate health checkups a part of your daily routine which will help finding and treating diseases early," he said.
Uppal asserted that there is dire need to create awareness on the disastrous effect of intoxication from drugs on individual and society's health.
Thousands of youths are being indulged in drug related activities due to some unscrupulous elements in the society. He emphasized that the cooperation of every section of the society is must to liberate younger generation from drug addiction.
In his message to the youth of the state, Tarun Uppal appealed to the youth to shun the path of drugs and should focus on their studies and channelize their energies towards nation building.
Karunesh Gupta, senior BJP leader appealed to the participants to take care of your health.
He said that the objective of observing World Health Day was to ensure that everyone everywhere was able to access quality health services.
