Interstate drug peddlers held with 100 kg bhukki

banihal, Apr 7: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Ramban Police today achieved a major success by arresting three interstate drug peddlers and recovered 100 kilograms of poppy straw (bhukki) from their possession. Police spokesman said that acting on specific information, a special naka was raised at T chowk Banihal and checking and frisking was intensified. "During the process of checking at 04 am in the morning one truck coming from valley side bearing registration number JK05E-6302 was signalled to stop and was put to thorough checking," said spokesman. He further said that during search of the truck, one bag filled with 20 kg poppy straw was recovered from the said truck and the driver of the truck was identified as Mohd Iqbal of Drusoo Baramulla. In this connection, a case under FIR no. 43 under section 8/15 NDPS has been registered at Banihal police station.
Meanwhile, an another case a specific information was received from reliable sources that two Punjab based smugglers have brought drug consignment from Valley by train accordingly a special naka was raised at Railway Crossing. "During checking and frisking, two persons carrying two gunny bags were put to search and 80 kg of bukki was recovered from their possession," said spokesman The due was identified as Gurmail Singh alias Sonu of Mundi, Tehsil Sultanpur Distt Kapoorthala Punjab and Sukhdev Singh of Raikot Tehsil Aitiana Distt Ludhiana. Accordingly, a case under FIR no. 44 under section 8/15 NDPS has been registered at Banihal police station and during preliminary investigation it came to light that the trio had brought the consignment from Sangam area of valley It is pertinent to mention here that in last one week, Banihal Police has arrested eleven drug peddlers and huge quantity of Charas, poppy straw and some quantity of heroine (chitta) has been recovered. The arrest and recovery has been made by a Police team headed by Inspector Aijaz Ahmed Wani-SHO Banihal under the supervision of DySP Sajjad Sarwar-SDPO Banihal, Sanjay Parihar-Addl SP Ramban and overall supervision of Anita Sharma-SSP Ramban.
