Not to fiddle with legitimate scholarship of STs, Pahari students: Dr Shazad to Govt | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 18: Giving a strong message to the concerned officers of the state government not to fiddle with the legitimate scholarship of students belonging to Schedule Tribe and Pahari community, Dr Shazad Malik educationist and social activist has asked the union and state government to ensure timely release of all scholarship dues of the ST and Pahari students. He said, students belonging to under privileged class are totally depend upon the government scholarships but it is unfortunate that the Babus sitting in the air conditioned chambers of civil secretariat take least interest in ensuing timely release of students dues thus putting them in dilemma. Accusing the government officers of being rude towards the plight of gullible students, Shazad said the they should explain the delay in releasing the scholarship amount to students. Shazad also informed that in the past academic sessions, State Pahari Advisory Board had issued annual scholarship to the students as per their fee structure but in this session they are issuing only Rs-3000 per student with an excuse that funds are not available. He said several students complaining that Pahari Advisory Board changed the existing scale of scholarship without any consultation and amount of Rs 3000 to a student pursuing higher studies is nothing but a cruel joke. He urged upon the governor and his advisors to intervene in this serious issue concerning the future of thousands of poor students belonging to ST and Pahari community and avoid any possible confrontation. |
