Thakur Randhir Singh welcomes ban on cross LoC trade | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 23: Veteran leader and NCP chief of J&K Thakur Randhir Singh has welcomed the Ministry of Home affairs decision on banning cross border trade with Pakistan. Singh said this was the conspiracy of Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed who connived with congress set up. Singh said that the decision from the central government came after a tip-off from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) that claimed the route was being misused by Pakistani elements and trading firms, with links to militant organisations, to smuggle narcotics, weapons, and counterfeit money across the border. He said that investigation into certain cases revealed that several Pakistan-based trading firms are being operated by "persons closely associated with banned terrorist organizations involved in fuelling terrorism/separatism". The communique added that some of these companies have been opened by individuals who have crossed over to Pakistan and joined militant organizations. The directive can, therefore, be seen in the light of India's increasingly hardline stance to curb the financing of terror, especially since the February 14 terror attack on paramilitary personnel in Pulwama. He said that Pakistan has vested interests and local political parties like NC, PDP CPI(M), calling it an election gimmick by the ruling party at the centre. He condemned the utterance of Mehbooba Mufti who is out of power and supporting Pakistan's nuclear power which is anti national and many so called leaders and traders from the valley demanded that trade between Pakistan from Poonch and Uri to be resumed for their personal interests none is from Jammu. |
