NH44 closed for vehicular traffic, passengers suffering | | | Early Times Report RAMBAN, May 9: The vehicular traffic on the 270 KM Jammu Kashmir National Highway has been disrupted since last night due to the massive landslide and shooting stones at Digdole in between Ramban-Banihal road stretched. Traffic police officials said that there were heavy landslides and shooting stones at Digdole besides landslide at Monkey Morh due to which the vehicular movement has been stopped on NH44. The blockage of the highway has not only caused the much inconvenience to the commuters travelling between Jammu and Srinagar but also witnessed heavy traffic jam at Ramban and Chanderkote besides other parts of the district. Around 3000 of small and big load carriers including trucks, heavy and light passenger vehicles have been stranded on the both sides of the landslide area. The concerned agencies have been busy in clearing the debris from the road since early morning and according to the traffic officials the road is expected to be reopened by tomorrow evening. "The unplanned construction work of National Project of four laning by the concerned construction companies is the main reason behind the routine closure of NH44" said a passenger. He further said that the administration should take necessary steps against the said construction companies so that the passengers may not suffer further. |
