Disburse benefits in Old Age Pension Scheme: HC to SWD | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 9: In a Public Interest Litigation filed by Viklang Chattra Trust seeking better care of old age home, a division bench of the state High Court observed that as per report filed by the Social Welfare Department, 263620 applications are pending with the SWD at different levels for grant of pension under the Old Age Pension Scheme. The bench comprising Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice Sindhu Sharma, after hearing Advocate Summit Nayyar for the PIL whereas Sr. AAG HA Siddqui with Deputy AG Vishal Bharti appearing for the State, directed SWD to verify all applications, and the claims which are found to be genuine be disbursed as per the schemes. The order was passed in a PIL in which in compliance report dated 10.04.2019 it has been stated that at present there are 263620 applications pending with the SWD at different levels for grant of pension under the Old Age Pension Scheme. It has been stated in the compliance report that scrutiny of the record of applicants is required to weed out bogus claims and also ensure payment to the beneficiaries through banking channels. Some time has been sought for the purpose. |
