Jammu, May 11: The Director School Education Jammu (DSEJ) has initiated an enquiry in the cutting of over 80 year old majestic Shesham trees from the premises of Government High School Lakhanpur. The enquiry was ordered by Director School Education taking cognizance of the news report carried by Early Times in its edition of May 11, titled, "Standing tall for 80 years, 4 majestic Shesham trees axed down at GHS Lakhanp r". An enquiry committee comprising three members has been constituted to look into the matter and they are directed to submit their report in one week, DSE Jammu, Anuradha Gupta said. Sources informed Early Times that taking cognizance of the news story, Deputy Commissioner Kathua Vikas Kundal on Saturday morning directed Tehsildar Kathua to enquire about the matter and it was found that five trees were cut down from the school premises. |
