Electric wires hanging on trees pose risk in LoC villages | | | MS Nazki Early Times Report MENDHAR, May 15: Residents of Dabbi and Dharati villages near LoC in Balakote Mendhar are up in arms against PDD for failing to install iron electric poles and new wires in the villages thereby putting the lives of the residents at risk as the wires in several areas are hanging on trees. Locals of Dabbi and Dharati said that the absence of concrete electric poles and standard wire poses risk to their lives and property as most wires are hanging on the trees. They said that there is a possibility that due to the hanging wires the current may also flow nearby which can put the human lives at risk. At times the excessive flow of current can generate enough heat to ignite wooden logs that are in shape of electric poles, particularly where there is contact between the wood and metal surfaces of power pole in residential areas, said a local resident. The people appealed to the concerned department that they should install the new poles, so that the people feel safe and secure. |
