Early Times report
Doda, May 15: Education system in Gundna zone, situated 55 kilometers from Doda headquarter, is going from bad to worse with each passing day. As per reports available with Early Times, Government Primary School, Gujjar Basti, Ludna, is in worse condition as the old building is posing threat to the lives of students. Nearly 80% classrooms are totally damaged while the kitchen shed is in ruins. Bathroom is unusable as it got damaged many years ago. There is not water system in the school. Due to lack of basic facilities, students as well as teachers are facing hardship. In summer season, the teachers take their classes under the open sky.
Similar is the condition of Government Primary School Sheikhpura, Ludna, where only 17 students are enrolled. Of the two teachers, one is found regularly absent from the duty. He attends the school hardly ten days in a month, local residents said
President of District Rural Youth Welfare Association and social activist Farid Ahmed Naik visited both the schools and interacted with locals, teachers and students in their schools. He said that many flagship schemes were introduced to improve the quality education in rural areas in the state, but most of these schemes have not been utilized properly because of lack of basic facilities and poor education system. With the result, the students are suffering badly and their future is at risk, but the authorities concerned do not pay any heed towards the deteriorating rural education system.
