The ceremonial lamp was lit by Director Agriculture, Jammu P S Rathore on the occasion to mark the inauguration.
The Joint Director of Agriculture (Inputs), B K Zutshi, Joint Director of Agriculture (Extension), Anil Arora, I/C Chief Agriculture Officer, Jammu, S K Langer, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, R S Pura, Roshan Lal Bhagat, Agriculture Extension Officer, R S Pura, Ashwani Kumar Jojra and other officers and field functionaries of the Agriculture Department were present on the occasion.
Speaking before the gathering of farmers, the Director of Agriculture said that the main focus of such programme is to educate the Lead Resource Persons (LRPs) of SOBRC Project regarding latest technological interventions in the field of Organic Farming to create further awareness among other farmers of the Basmati Cluster.
Rathore stressed that the Farmers Interest Group (FIG) of Basmati Producers of SOBRC shall be organized into Farmers Producer Organization (FPO) which will pave way for them to avail financial support for various Post Harvest Infrastructure facilities like Storage Godowns, Mini Rice Shellers and Sale Outlets under various Centrally Sponsored Schemes like National Food Security Mission (NFSM), Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) etc. It was also informed that Directorate of Agriculture has fixed a target of 100000 farming families of various Commodity Interest Groups (CIGs) to be brought under the fold of FPOs to achieve higher farm income by reducing the cost of cultivation.
