Raid on PC leader's properties vindicates Modi's war against corruption | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 11: The reported raids at the office and residence of Peoples Conference leader and Deputy Mayor of Srinagar, Sheikh Imran who is also known as Mujahid Shiekh Muhammad Imran, has vindicated the stand of Modi government on war against corruption. Modi, who is known for his slogan "Na Khawunga Na Khane Dunga" has made it clear that no corruption would be tolerated and that it doesn't matter who is to be taken to task as all are equal in the eyes of the law. For that matter the Peoples Conference headed by Sajad Lone was seen as close to the Bharatiya Janta Party but the raids on the office of the deputy Mayor have made it clear that Modi government believes in discipline and that no indiscipline will be tolerated. Some days back, the Income Tax department had raided the residence of close relatives of one more senior leader of the Peoples Conference. Sources said the raids at office of Shiekh Imran at Sangarmala shopping mall in Srinagar has unnerved the politicians in Jammu and Kashmir. "When the government means discipline even towards those who are thought to be close to New Delhi, the action against others can only be imagined," said a politician on the condition of anonymity. Last year, the Modi government had made it clear that no corruption or indiscipline would be tolerated and that all such faces would be taken to task. While the sacking of the Chairman of J&K Bank Parvez Ahmed was seen as the first step in this direction, the raids at the properties of Sheikh Imran added to the commitment as made by New Delhi in this regard. It is pertinent to mention that Sheikh Imran had taken around Rs 100 crore loan from J&K Bank during the Omar Abdullah's rule but became a defaulter. The said Dy Mayor has been calling himself Mujahid Sheikh Imran for few months. Despite repeated attempts the said politician couldn't be contacted for comments. |
