Jammu, June 18: The pressure exerted by the Sikh leaders left the Ministry of Home Affairs with no other choice other than to seek explanation from Delhi Police.
"There are hundreds of individual complaints against the policemen gathering dust at MHA office. The MHA has never bothered to look into these. It acted to diffuse the tension as the Sikh leaders and others made it clear to the Union Home Ministry that police atrocities won't be tolerated," said an observer.
"We salute the Sikh community leaders for standing up for the two members of their community who were thrashed mercilessly by police. It was due to their united stand that MHA took a notice of the incident and pulled up the Delhi Police." |
