Early Times Report JAMMU, July 16: Akhil Bhartiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has demanded open admission for all the students of First Semester. According to press release, ABVP activists today staged protest demonstration at MAM College in favour of their demands and confront Secretary Higher Education. Addressing the students, ABVP leader Prateek said that the students who have scored 75% in their 12th Board exams have been denied admission due to lack of concern shown by the higher education department. Vice Chancellor of Jammu University and Cluster University Jammu have shown their incapacity to deal the issue and the students are suffering for their basic right to education and right to choose amongst the choices available, he said. They further said that students must be given enough choices to study the subject of their choice and the subjects like commerce and medical should also be introduced in these colleges should be introduced in every college affiliated to Jammu University (newly opened colleges and old colleges), Cluster University Jammu. They also demanded that the seats for History, Geography, Geology, Political Science, education should be increased in all the colleges and newly established colleges should be provided accommodation. A delegation of ABVP leaders also called on Divisional Commissioner and submitted a memorandum of their demands. |
