Early Times Report JAMMU, July 16: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Jammu celebrated foundation day of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) today at village Koratana Khurd, R S Pura in which large number of farmers, farm women, extension officers from agriculture department, scientists from KVK Jammu participated. The programme was organized with the objective of promoting organic agriculture and use of organic inputs following traditional cultural practices. During the programme, Dr Rakesh Sharma, senior scientist KVK Jammu briefed about the new diseases and insect-pests that are on the rise due to the climate change and problem being faced by the farmers due to delayed monsoon thereby affecting the transplanting of paddy crop. Dr Punit Choudhary senior scientist Agro-forestry advised the farmers to maintain soil fertility through organic manuring and conserve water at the same time. Dr Prem Kumar Scientist Fisheries suggested the farmers to visit KVK to share their agricultural problems with the experts. Roshan Lal Bhagat SDAO R S Pura guided the farmers to get full benefits of different government schemes namely Parampragat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY), Kisan Credit Crop, Crop Insurance etc. Ashwani Jojra AEO R S Pura also shared his views with the farmers to adopt new technologies for doubling of income. |
