Bail of CS staff impostor rejected | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 26: A local court on Friday rejected the bail application of one Ashwani Bhardwaj who had posed himself as an official of Chief Secretary Office. Sub-Judge Jammu Pawan Kumar Sharma, after hearing Sr. PO Puja Nijhon for the state, observed that Director Tourism Kashmir lodged a report with the Crime Branch that on 13.05.2019 he received a telephonic call from a person who claimed himself to be Bhardwaj from the office of Chief Secretary and asked PA to Assistant Director Tourism Leh to contact on his number. Subsequently, when Assistant Director Tourism called the person on mobile he asked him to deposit Rs 10,000 in the account of Bhardwaj in SBI Branch Purani Mandi, Jammu. Later, it came to the fore that the complainant had been cheated and the person who called him is a fraud. On this report FIR No. 34/2019 u/s 420/170 RPC was registered and investigation started in which applicant/accused has been arrested. During the investigation police recorded statement of the witnesses and also details of mobile calls and the account number of the accused was also obtained and it was found that accused although was not having any source of income, a number of transactions have been done in his account across the state and he has cheated many persons by impersonating himself as one of the officials of Chief Secretary's office. "A strong prima facie case against the accused has been established and there is no reason for me to show any leniency to the accused. The offence in which accused is involved has punishment up to life imprisonment," with these observations, the accused's bail application was dismissed by the court. |
