Talwara School runs from lone, dimly lit room | | | Arun Jasrotia Early Times Report REASI, Aug 4: Contrary to the tall claims of School Education Department of providing all basic facilities to the government-run educational institutes in the state, Government Primary School, Upper Talwara in district Reasi is functioning in a single room. The Primary School, Talwara with a strength of over 80 students runs from only one small dimly lit room which is being used for all the five classes as well as a staff room, kitchen and office for storing documents. Most of the times students sit under the open sky in the scorching heat and rains as there is hardly any space to accommodate all of them in a single room in the event of an inclement weather. During the rainy season, the verandah fills with water and teachers face problems in making space for all students in the lone room, said the teaching staff, who also agreed that there is no proper infrastructure in the school. Students of the school while speaking to Early Times said that their studies suffer a lot due to the lack of infrastructure as one room for five classes cannot be justified in any case adding that despite repeated pleas to the department concerned nothing has been done to resolve the issue so far. They demanded necessary infrastructure for the school at the earliest so that the students could heave a sigh of relief from crammed one-room accommodation. |
