Maximum marriage ceremonies postponed in view of prevailing situation in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Aug 4: Due to prevailing uncertain situation in view of the advisory issued by administration to pilgrims and tourists to leave Kashmir due to threat perception, maximum marriage ceremonies have been postponed or to be solemnised without serving any feast to guests. However, this will be blessing in disguise for people who were to otherwise spend lakhs of rupees for marriage ceremonies of their children. People through paid advertisements in local newspapers or private television channels are informing their relatives about cancellation of marriage invitation cards. Though "Nikah" ceremony will be held as per schedule, but invitation cards for serving feast has been cancelled, the advertisements said. Hundreds of wedding ceremonies were scheduled to be held in the Kashmir valley before the Eid-ul-Azha on August 12. Similar situation was witnessed during 2008, 2010 and 1016 mass agitations and unrest in the valley. However, this had helped people to save lakhs of rupees being spent on preparing feast for guests. |
