In view of security threat Amarnath Yatra has been suspended
8/4/2019 11:14:53 PM
It is for the first time in the history of Amarnath Yatra the state Government has issued an advisory to the yatris to return from the shrine and other tourists to vacate the valley which has generated a debate whether the suspension of the yatra was called for. The Kashmir centric politicians have berated the Government's step on the pretext of possible revocation of Article 35-A and Article 370. But he fact is that the yatra was suspended after the security forces recovered one sniper rifle and an IED close to the mountain shrine which the state Police believes the work of the militants. In an unprecedented security measure, Jammu and Kashmir government has suspended ongoing Amarnath yatra after inputs of possible attack on yatris. According to officials of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, Amarnath yatra has been suspended in the interest of safety and security of the pilgrims.
The government has issued security advisory and asked Amarnath yatris and tourists to curtail their stay in Kashmir . "Keeping in view the latest intelligence inputs of terror threats with specific targeting of the Amarnath Yatra, and given the prevailing security situation in the Kashmir Valley, in the interest of safety and security of the tourists and Amarnath Yatris, it is advised that they may curtail their stay in the valley immediately and take necessary measures to return as soon as possible," said an order issued by the, Home Department Despite the Governor, S.P. Malik, telling people that the yatra has been suspended and additional forces were deployed in the valley to ensure peace during Independence Day.
The state Government has claimed that it has received intelligence inputs of militants planning attacks on Amarnath pilgrims. But while berating the state Government the Kashmir centric politicians have grouped together to fight for deployment of additional. Security forces while claiming that the centre was preparing the ground for abrogation of Article 35-A and Article 370 And the campaign may help the Kashmir centric political parties to contest successfully the ensuing Assembly elections. And in this case the Governor has also suggested to people not to believe in rumors. He has made it clear that the Government has no plan to either abrogate Article 35-A or Article 370. And the centre has also backed the Governor as far as there is no basis for fear psychosis under either the plan of removing special status or separate citizenship. But the Kashmir centric politicians view the suspension of the yatra to sound an alarm for some Government plan for action against people. But if the valley has received additional deployment of forces for taking on militants who keep on disturbing security scenario in the valley.
