JAMMU, Aug 9: Soil & Water Conservation Department, Jammu Region today launched an awareness campaign on Rain Water Harvesting and In-situ Soil Moisture Conservation at Birpur, Khara and Patyari (Sarna) areas of Samba district. Sarpanchs, Panchs and locals participated in the campaign and putforth their valuable suggestions on the subject. Joint Director Soil and Water Conservation Department, Jammu Region, Pawan K. Kudyar emphasized the need of bridging the gap between the demand of water requirement and its availability by the surface Run-off Water Harvesting and In-situ Moisture Conservation in the soil. He told the participants about different techniques for Rain Water Harvesting like Construction, up-gradation and Restoration of Water Harvesting Ponds, small Check Dams, Roof Top Rain Water Harvesting, Recharge Pits, Recharging Trenches, Dug wells Recharging etc., so that the harvested rain water could be used at the time of need. |
