Delegation of Ex-Central Paramilitary Forces Welfare Association meets Dr Narinder | | | Early Times Report RS Pura, Sept 8: A delegation of Ex-Central Paramilitary Forces Welfare Association today met BJP State General Secretary Dr Narinder and sought Union Home Minister Amit Shah intervention in resolving their issues like grant of special pay, OROP and restoration of the old pension scheme for lakhs of serving personnel. Singh assured them that the government will look into the matter and take appropriate action as regards the genuine demands as early as possible and will ensure their interaction with Home Minister on his J&K visit.General Secretary Ex-Central Paramilitary Forces Welfare Association DK Chouhan demanded granting One Rank One Pension (OROP), restoration of the old pension scheme instead of the current NPS, granting the status of martyr and constituting an ex-paramilitary board in each state. There are about nine lakh jawans and officers in the paramilitary forces such as the CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP and SSB -- also called the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). In addition to conducting internal security operations, these forces also secure the country's borders, he added.He further added that they joined the paramilitary forces and served the nation at par with Army."The Central Government granted OROP only for the armed forces of the defence depriving the paramilitary forces", he said, adding that like army, paramilitary forces personnel also serve the nation, but they have been deprived of OROP. Government failed to redress our issues including OROP, MSP and grade pay, adding that Director General of Paramilitary Forces have also failed to think about the problems being faced by the widows and dependents of the personnel serving in paramilitary forces. He appealed to the Government to redress the genuine demands of the paramilitary forces personnel. Among others present were Gurdyal Singh ,Distt President Jammu, Gurbachan Singh, Distt President Samba,Noor Mohd, General Secretary Samba, Mela Ram Vice President, Harbans Lal State Secretary, Kushal Singh Joint Secretary, Harbinder Kour, Kamlesh Kumari and others. |
