Power game behind cry against revocation of Article 370 and 35-A | | | The National Conference has voiced concern over the uncertain and unstable situation in Jammu and Kashmir and said the party would fight against any infringement of the special the constitutional status of the state. The NC had a four-hour-long meeting of its party's political affairs committee (PAC) over the current situation in the valley. The meeting was chaired by party vice-president Omar Abdullah. After the meeting, an NC spokesperson said, the party called for "effective and immediate" measures to create confidence among the people in Kashmir. The National Conference leadership knows that after sometime the Assembly elections are due and the delay has been the result of grave situation in Kashmir. He said the party is willing to go an extra mile to defend Article 370 and Article 35-A of the Constitution. In fact the NC leadership is eager to regain power in the proposed Assembly elections. The party also said the need of the hour calls for well-considered response to the situation. And this means that the NC leadership is ready to fight for the restoration of Article 370 and 35-A and it knows that it is the choice of the majority of voters. Hence Those who get voters support that party will win the elections. This time the mainstream parties in the field are Congress, the PDP and the Congress. Hence leaders of these three organisations may blow the bugle against revocation of Article 370 an d 35-A. NC, PDP and the Congress leaders know it that roar against abrogation of Article 370 an d 35-A may get the votes. But they do not want to go against the public wishes by enumerating that the revocation of Article 370 and 35-A could prove beneficial for the people of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The National Conference leadership unanimously impressed upon the Government of India to clear the air on the current uncertainty in Kashmir. There are sections of people in Kashmir who are in favour of abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A but wish to remain mum and the leadership of the NC, the PDP and the Congress know it that by hiolding protest rallies the centre may get inclined to restore the constitional guarantees that were denied on August five. And whatever may be the idea the NC wishes to regain power so is the PDP and the Congress. Let the voters go to dog in Kashmir but the NC,PDP and the Congress are determined to regain power. |
