| JRG felicitates runners | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 8: Jammu Runners Group (JRG) today felicitated the star runners Mukesh Kumar and Abhishake Gupta for running between Amritsar and Jammu for spreading awareness about general fitness and against drug abuse. Both the runners started their run from Amritsar on the morning of 31st August, 2019 and finished it on 1st of September, 2019 covering a distance of around 200 Kmrs. The duo ran around 100 kilometres on each day. Narrating the heroic effort of both the runners on the occasion, Vikram Garg, C. A, explained to the audience the arduous nature of the task. "Only a runner can imagine how difficult it is to run this much distance under this hot and humid weather" he said while addressing the gathering. It is worth mentioning that the duo is first to have run this distance between the two holy cities, that too only in two days.
Speaking about the motivation behind undertaking this difficult task, Mukesh highlighted the prevalent influx of drug abuse in Jammu amongst youth and that how the drug culture which has entered in Jammu from neighbouring state is spoiling the future of young boys and girls in and around Jammu. As per him if the youth is motivated towards healthy lifestyle, the menace of drugs can be defeated. |
