Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 21: The detained Kashmir-centric leaders have started giving written bonds to the authorities in the Valley to seek their release. According to media reports, 5 mainstream leaders and the Hurriyat dove Mirwaiz Umar Farooq have signed bonds that they won't indulge in any political activity.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said Kashmiri leaders have been left with limited options, either they have to stay behind the bars or they have to fall in the line. The ones who are falling in the line are being released and the ones who are adamant continue to remain under detention.
He said, "The leaders who have signed the bonds to seek their release are the same people who during all these years have spoken in different languages and have never made an attempt to prove their loyalty towards the country and their own people."
An observer said, "The reorganization of Jammu & Kashmir has shown the Kashmir-centric leaders their real place. A message has been conveyed to them that their anti-national rhetoric won't be tolerated anymore."
He said, "Kashmiri leaders during the past 70 years have just fed lies to their people and have never made an attempt to tell truth to the masses. But now these leaders are being made to realize that times have changed and they can't have the cake and eat it too."
A Kashmir watcher said, "It is high time for Kashmiri leaders to change their way of politics. They have to become truthful and honest and help the Kashmiri people, who have been turned into cannon fodder due to the dirty games being played by the people sitting across the Line of Control."
He said, "Deceit and lies are not going to work anymore. They have to accept and acknowledge that Kashmir is an integral part of India and the J&K's accession with Union of India was not temporary but permanent."
Another analyst said, "These leaders should come forward and help the people resume their daily chores rather than indulging in rhetoric they should tell the people sitting in Pakistan that Kashmiris should be left alone as they want to live a dignified and peaceful life."
He said, "If they can give bond to secure their freedom then what is stopping them from freeing the people from the clutches of Pakistan sponsored terrorists, who are threatening the common masses and are forcing them to stay indoors."
