DDC Budgam Warns strict action against timber smuggling, illegal earth excavation

BUDGAM, Sept 22: District Development Commissioner Budgam, Tariq Hussain Ganai, today warned of strict action as per the law against offenders indulging in timber smuggling and illegal earth excavation in the district.
The DDC made these remarks while chairing a meeting here today to review functioning of the Revenue Department. The meeting was attended by ADC Budgam, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, ACR, Zaffar Shawl, SDMs, DIO Budgam, all Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars and other concerned.
Expressing serious concern over the reports of illegal earth excavation and timber smuggling incidents, the DDC directed concerned to keep a strict vigil and ensure the offenders are booked immediately. He also directed concerned to launch demolition drive against encroachments on state and kahchari land in the district.
Emphasizing for timely sorting out of land acquisition and compensation issues with land owners, hampering work process on the developmental projects, the DDC instructed officers to resolve such issues amicably to pave way for hassle- free development process.
Issues related to procurement of land for approach road connectivity to proposed District Hospital site at Reshipora in Budgam, land identification for Degree College Chadoora and renovation of various Tehsil offices were discussed threadbare in the meeting.
During the meeting, the DDC was apprised that 1000 kanals of land stands transferred to Animal Husbandry Department at Narkara. It was also revealed that dredging and demarcation and action against encroachers of Hokasar Wetland is in full swing.
The DDC instructed the concerned to identify land for the establishment of Rural Haat at Khansahab. He directed on completion of Jamabandis, scanning work by 15th of October. He further laid emphases on conducting of camps on attestation of mutations and issuance certificates to EWS.
