Kathua, Sept 25: In view of repeated alleged complaints regarding exorbitant rates being charged by few Stone Crusher units in Kathua, the District Administration took cognizance of the same and fixed the rates of aggregated crushed material, sand etc.
The rates fixed were ceiling rates at source and any crusher unit found charging more than the ceiling price shall be penalized under relevant laws, DDC, Dr. Raghav Langer said while chairing the meeting along with SE Hydraulic Circle Kathua, Sudhir Sabharwal, Engineers from PMGSY, PWD, Irrigatation & Flood Control, DTO, AD FCS & CA, Asstt. Controller, LMD, DMO along with some of the representative of crusher units and taking into account the SOR rates of PWD besides prevalent market rates. The rates were finalized by the District level committee constituted by the DDC.
The DDC also apprised that the notification to this effect regarding fixing of prices of aggregate material (crushed stone), sand and dust shall be issued separately and in case any crusher owner found overcharging shall be penalized under SRO 105, 302, Weight and Measure Act and other relevant sections of law.
DDC also apprised that the helpline numbers are also notified by the District Administration where any customer, private consumer or Govt. contractor can lodge their complaint regarding disparity in rates. |
