RAMBAN, Oct 9: A total 50 nominations were filed for elections to Block Development Council (BDC) chairperson in eleven blocks of district Ramban till the last day today. Maximum 08 nominations were filed for Sangaldan Block, 07 for Ukhral, 06 each for Khari and Ramsoo Block, 04 each for Banihal, Ramban, Rajgarh and Gundi Dhram Block, 03 for Gandhari, 02 each for Batote and Gool Block.
The fate of 50 candidates including 21 female contestants for the 11 seats of BDC, Chairperson will be decided on October 24. Four blocks are reserved for women candidates including one each for SC and ST candidates.
The notification for the BDC elections was issued on October 1, 2019. The last date for filling of Nomination was October 9, 2019 and the scrutiny of nomination papers shall take place on October 10, 2019. Date of withdrawal of candidature has been fixed as October 11, 2019, and Elections shall be held on October 24. The polling hours shall be from 9 am to 1 pm while the counting of votes shall be held from 3 pm onwards unless notified otherwise, followed by announcements of results the same day. |
