DySP extends strategic help to bovine smugglers
11/3/2019 11:10:46 PM

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Nov 3: A DySP ranked officer posted in Jammu district is extending all out help to bovine smugglers operating in his area as he is fully aiding and abetting the activities of those involved in this illegal trade.
Sources informed Early Times that initially the DySP was not involved in facilitating the mechanism of bovine smuggling and was not willing to help bovine smugglers, adding that however following the posting of new SHO in the area, the DySP too has started to lend a hand supporting hand to smugglers.
"The DySP is providing safe passage to bovine smugglers in night hours. In order to execute his plans to help the bovine smugglers, the DySP has set up a fool-proof modus operandi wherein he holds meetings with the bovine smugglers in the morning and inform them about the proposed route to follow for securing safe passage falling under the area comprising two police stations and few police posts," said sources.
Sources said that the area where the DySP is posted is the biggest hub of bovine smuggling and it is next to impossible to reach Kashmir without crossing this area.
"The area notorious for bovine smuggling has a history of close nexus with the local police, however, after the posting of the DySP the 'working relations' were confined to the SHO only as the DySP was offering no help to bovine smugglers but he never caught any of their vehicles and even allow them to cross the area," sources said.
Sources further said that but after a period of time, the DySP also shown willingness to help bovine smugglers and those involved in this illegal trade began to visit his office frequently which has paved way for him to earn easy money from the smugglers. In return, the DySP had taken the responsibility of providing safe passage to bovine smugglers in his area.
"According to the deal, few vehicles carrying bovine animals will be seized in order to give an impression to the department that the DySP is actively initiating action against the bovine smugglers," said sources.
"It has been told that later on the apprehended bovines will be handed over to their owners after completing the legal formalities," sources added.
