Rajouri, Nov 12: School of Education, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri Celebrated National Education Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Molauna Abul Kalam Azad, the first Education Minster of Independent India. Prof. G.M. Malik, Dean & Head , School of Education , shared some untold facts about the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad . Prof. Malik said that one of the interesting facts about Maulana Azad is that even though he did not receive formal schooling, Moulana was well versed in Urdu, Persian, Arabic, and Hindi and was also a scholar of mathematics, philosophy, world history, and Politics. Prof. Malik said that Maulana Azad was also a prominent journalist of his time and championed the cause of Indian Nationalist movement. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Nasreen Qusar, Assisstant Professor said that Maulana Abul Kalam Azad became the first Education Minister of India and established the University Grants Commission (UGC) after India's independence. She said that Moulana established higher educational institutions and worked for free education in the country. Ms. Nadiya pervaiz, student of M.Ed 1st semester, also presented a talk on National Education Day. Those who were present on the occasion included Dr. Azad, Dr, Nayyar , other faculty members , scholars and students of the department. The proceedings of the event were conducted by Ms. Rafia Khan. |
