Chingus Fort should be preserved: Anita Thakur | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 13: Anita Thakur, General Secretary-JKNPP today showed her anguish over the worst condition of historical Chingus Fort at Rajouri. It is due to the ignorance and callousness attitude shown by the department of Archives, Archaeology & Museums of J&K UT. No doubt it is the failure of the previous governments who turned no stone to discriminate with historical and tourist spots of Jammu region. The Chingus Fort is no exception. This Fort was constructed in the 16th century by Mughal emperor Jahangir and the Mughal emperor stayed here during his journey from Delhi to Kashmir. In fact, the mortal remains of the Jahangir were buried there. She criticized the Archaeology department for not doing its proper preservation and duly tourist department ignorant behavior which failed to generate revenue. It definitely will provide avenues of jobs for the unemployed youths of Rajouri district if tourist department involve in its maintenance. She therefore urged L.G Jammu & Kashmir to take stringent action against such irresponsible behaviour of Archaeology, Archives & Museums department and ordered them to preserve this historical Fort from further damage. She hoped that such historical and tourist spots will be stopped to be ignored in present Union Territory of J&K. If it remained ignored Panthers party will launch a movement such injustice against the J&K administration from roads to the doors of the courts. |
