Early Times Report

Bani, Nov 13: GREF - General Reserve Engineer Force,a road construction authority's biased attitude while constructing a defence road from Basohli-Bani to Bhadarwah that would link further with Anantnag district , is raising eye-brows of victims whose land falls under construction of road.Pertinently, GREF has started Road construction Project through its sub agency 69 Road construction company. The state Revenue department gave road map for the construction of road along with boundary lines for its widening. Many constructed houses are being fallen under boundary lines but GREF demolished some houses and left many houses of influential people. One can notice many areas where breast walls were constructed to save the houses while leaving narrow road but others were left unsafe and without way to their houses. One such case came into light in sarthali wherein GREF constructed a breast wall for the house of Gulam Hussain, the road is insecure and narrow here but no breast wall and way to the house of one Bhagwan Singh.
People frequently called on Local administration and raised demand for road according to DPR and duly demarcated by Revenue department at Sarthali. They alleged that prejudice in the part of constructing company has triggered rage among sufferers. They demanded widening of road according to marked line than prejudicely. People are confused on the working style of GREF.
Pranav Sharma, a social activist, informed that Exploring Bhaderwah and its vicinity is incomplete without a drive along the Bhaderwah-Bani-Basohli Road circuit. This road circuit connects Bhaderwah with Lakhanpur in J&K. "The Bhaderwah-Bani-Basohli Road has been granted a national highway status but unfortunately the road is not being constructed to make the drive safe," added that the road is narrow at many curves as many marked areas have been left untouched to play with the lives of tourists. He demanded the widening of road to make the lives safe and to promte tourism. People's demands must be kept in the view.
When ET contacted to DDC Kathua, OP Bhagat, the officer assured to intervene the matter .He informed that breast walls or way to the houses would be constructed according to the requirement after confimation of SDM Bani.
