Jammu, Nov 13: Under the vibrant and dynamic leadership of Justice Gita Mittal, Chief Justice, High Court of J&K and Patron-in- chief and Justice Rajesh Bindal, Executive Chairman, JK SLSA, the Jammu and Kashmir State Legal Services Authority was awarded Zonal Best State Legal Services Authority of the North Zone (J&K, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi and Uttrakhand) in recognition of the utmost commitment and excellent work done in legal Services. The unrelenting and sound policy direction and clarity of vision of the Chief Justice coupled with goal orientation paved way for consistent and successful achievement of the objectives of National Legal Services Authority in J&K. During the period, 3336 number of people which include 865 women, 86 children and 96 people in custody were provided legal assistance by JK SLSA. The innovative approaches and frameworks adopted with sustainable practices by JK SLSA in opening recreational homes called Ahata-e-Waqar for the senior citizens at Jammu, Srinagar and Leh, in addition to devising and implementing the outreach legal services programmes by organising Mega legal Services Camps and Lok Adalats for quick, timely and inexpensive justice were the indicators for the Best Performance of J&K. During the year, in September 2018, 22 Judicial Officers were appointed as Secretaries DLSAs, out of which 14 Secretaries were appointed as full time Secretaries, whereas, remaining 8 as part time secretaries. |
