Major tragedy averted, IED defused on Srinagar-Jammu highway | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Nov 14: Security forces on Thursday averted a major tragedy when they defected and defused a powerful Improvise Explosive Device (IED) planted at Pampore on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, official sources said. They said a Road Opening Party (ROP) noticed a suspicious pressure cooker on the roadside at Pampore, about 12 km from here in south Kashmir district of Pulwama. "The area was immediately cordoned off," they said adding a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was summoned. They said the 3-kg IED was defused without causing any damage. "Had it not been detected and defused it would have caused much damage to life and property," they said. |
