| Drastic decrease in traffic violations: IGP Traffic | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 23: Inspector-General of Police, Traffic J&K, Alok Kumar, today convened a meeting here to review the traffic regulatory mechanism and the implementation of the new Motor Vehicles Act. During the meeting, it was given out that number of traffic violations have drastically reduced after implementation and enforcement of New Motor Vehicle Act and proactive action by the Traffic Police. On the occasion, IGP directed concerned officers to conduct survey of the roads with concerned road maintaining agencies for removing bad road patches and bringing improvement in the road surface. He also directed officers to ensure pasting of sticker slips depicting telephone numbers of GOs/NGOs/TCU on the windscreen of the PSVs for information of public and sharing the violation of drivers with the traffic police for immediate action. With regard to encroachments, IGP said SMC should be involved and long queues of trucks witnessed at different Toll Plazas be addressed and close liaison be made with the sister agencies for improving the traffic regulatory system. |
