Dr. Monojit elected as President of PLS-J | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 2: Dr. Monojit was elected as President of Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Jammu (PLS- J) in the election of the Sabha held on 1st December, 2019 at Rani Talab, Digiana, Jammu. He has been re- elected unopposed for the second term for two years. The result of the election was announced by S. Ajit Singh Mastana, the Election Commissioner nominated by PLS for the election of President of the Sabha. Dr. Monojit, in his address, said that his priority would be to ensure the development of Punjabi in the region and to proceed further to construct the Punjabi Bhawan at Rani Talab, Digiana, Jammu which was started years back but could not be completed due to one reason or the other. He assured the members to work with commitment for the Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Jammu which has proved to be one among the active organizations in the region. Dr. Monojit is a noted Punjabi Satire writer. It may be recalled that Dr. Monojit started writing Punjabi short stories during 1977 but sooner he realized that his work would be better in satire. Upto now he has given twelve books including seven satire books to the Punjabi literature. His short stories and satire has been published in many magazines in the country. He has been awarded with Best Book Award by J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages. He has also been honoured with Vyang Academy, Moga and Mirzada Awards among other awards. A seminar on his satire was organized in which intellectuals of many Universities of India read out their papers which were compiled in a book shape and published by Dr. Darya of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. |
