BJP infighting: High command to depute senior leaders for new president's election | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 9: Keeping in view the ongoing infighting within the J&K unit of the party, BJP high-command has decided to depute senior leaders to conduct elections of the president of J&K. Although date for the election has yet not announced, party high command will depute senior leaders within couple of days to ensure that only deserving candidate will be get elected as J&K president. Credible sources said that instead of taking workers into confidence a group within the party was trying to impose its decision on workers. During district and mandal president elections similar procedure was adopted and views of grass-root level workers were ignored in appointing districts and mandal presidents. Credible sources said that some leaders of the Sangh Parivar were also intervening in the election of state president so party high command has decided to depute senior leaders to bring consensus. Reports said half a dozen leaders are in the fray for the top post J&K BJP chief and party leadership would try to take all aspirants into confidence before announcing the name. President president Ravinder Raina, who was nominated as the chief of the erstwhile state of J&K on May 14, 2018, is also in the fray because he has not completed his tenure as the elected president. A faction within Sangh Parivar is trying to repeat him but majority of BJP workers are against him due to his failure to connect with workers. Raina had replaced Sat Sharma, who was inducted in the council of ministers headed by the then CM Mehbooba Mufti, on April 30, 2018. Although Raina has not completed his tenure, he is eligible for the next term. Many senior leaders, known for their organisational skills, are also trying for the top post. |
