DC Ramban monitors road clearance operation, inspects RAHAT Centres

RAMBAN, Dec 14: District Development Commissioner, Nazim Zai Khan monitored the snow and road clearance operation at various places and ensured that all stranded passengers are provided meals besides night shelter at designated RAHAT centres. SSP, Ramban Anita Sharma, ADC, Ramban, Ashok Sharma, DSP Traffic Suresh Sharma and various officers of civil and police administration supervised the adequate arrangements for the stay of stranded passengers besides road clearance in their respective jurisdictions. DDC said that landslides had blocked the highway at Digdol, Mompassi and Panthyal in Ramban district. He said that administration has to clear the road besides providing night shelter, meals and heating arrangements to stranded passengers, he added. DDC directed authorities of executing agencies to depute adequate men and machinery to remove landslides instantly from national highway to avoid traffic breakdown besides ensuring traffic worthy road 24X7. He appealed to the commuters to contact traffic control rooms before starting their journey on the highway. Meanwhile, DDC also inspected RAHAT centres established by the administration along the National highway for the stay of commuters in case of blockage of road from Nashri to Jawahar Tunnel. He directed the SDMs of Banihal and Ramsoo to ensure heating arrangements, eatables, sanitation and toilet facility in all RAHAT centres besides other necessary facilities for stranded passengers.
