Bar Association Kathua calls off strike

KATHUA, Dec 14: A General body meeting of District Bar Association Kathua held here today in the premises of District & Sessions Court Kathua under the chairmanship of Advocate Ajat Shatru Sharma, President, District Bar Association Kathua. The main agenda of the meeting was to discuss the decision taken by the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu to call off lawyers' strike in their General Body meeting held yesterday.
The decision to call off the strike was taken after certain assurances were given by the administration of J&K Union Territory in their meeting held on December 10.
The members of District Bar Association, Kathua present in the meeting unanimously decided to also suspend their strike in District Courts Kathua till further decision of Bar. The members of District Bar Association expressed satisfaction with regard to the first demand relating to drafting of legal documents. But as far as the second demand of setting the offices of registrar or sub registrar near the District Court Complex Kathua is still not worked out with the office bearers of the District Bar Association Kathua with direct communication with the J&K UT Administration at present but in the meeting held on 10-12-2019 with the lawyers of Jammu, the Administration of J&K Union Territory has assured to see the convenience of the general public as well as Advocates on the registration issue.
