Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 2: The world is celebrating birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh, who was born to the Ninth Guru of Sikhism, Guru Teg Bahadur and Mata Gujri at Patna Sahib in 1666. A Langar was organised by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State Executive Member, Raman Suri, at Lakhdata Bazar to commemorate this auspicious day. The practice of Langar was introduced in Sikhism by its founder, Guru Nanak Dev. In Langar, free meal is served to all visitors without any distinction of religion, caste, gender, economic status or ethnicity. The langar saw a huge gathering of people. Prominent social personality, Mahant Rajesh Bittu of Radha Madhav Trust, R.S. Pura adorned the occasion with his presence. Speaking on the occasion, he said, "Guru Gobind Singh ji is one of the most celebrated Guru in Sikhism. I wish each and every fellow being a Happy Gurupurab and pray that the Guru grace falls upon each one of us." He also appreciated Raman Suri for organising the Langar on this pious day and celebrating the birth of Guru Gobind Singh.
